Roof shingles take a beating under the sun and rough weather. Over time they loose their protective granules and turn brittle and owners think they need to replace their roofing shingles. Since 2020, Colorbiotics has been providing Peak 301 as an alternative to roof replacement. Peak 301 is a scientific formulation of a naturally occurring plant legume that extends the life of a roof shingle by at least six years. It’s often closer to ten years. When applied, this miraculous product is absorbed by the roof shingle and accomplishes the following: a) it doubles the shingle’s ability to retain its granules, the first line of defense against rain, hail, wind and UV rays. b) it reacts chemically with the bitumen inside the shingle improving the shingle’s flexibility. Flexibility is key to its longevity. The less flexible a shingle is the more brittle it becomes and vulnerable to wind and rain. Flexibility is the marker of age. Curling shingles is a sign of aging and Peak 301 reverses this. c) Peak 301 was shown to improve fire protection to the shingle by 68%.
